Maloney Reaches 1,000 Career Kills against (RV) Marian

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The No. 12 Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team (18-7, 9-4 CL) hosted (RV) Marian University (15-7, 7-6 CL) in a Crossroads League match in Ariel Arena on Friday, October 17.

It was an ultra-competitive match throughout as both teams gave each other their best. MVNU claimed the first set 25-21 and Marian battled back in set two, winning with a score of 26-24. The Lady Cougars righted the ship in set three, bouncing back with a 25-21 win. Marian responded with a late surge in set four and tied the match with a 25-18 victory. In the final set, Marian took control and would go on to win by a final score of 15-13.

Despite the loss, MVNU saw Faith Maloney surpass 1,000 kills in her MVNU career. The senior from South Webster, Ohio had 11 kill, five digs, three blocks, and three service aces. Libby Evanshine had a match-high 16 kills and Evelyn Brown added 13 kills while hitting .346. Reagan Nuss had a match-high 44 assists to go with eight digs, four kills, two service aces, and a block. Jaelyn Tang had a match-high 22 digs, while Ashley Merrick added eight digs of her own.

 

What's Next

MVNU hosts No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan University in Ariel Arena on Wednesday, October 22. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
