No. 15 Lady Cougars Win Top 25 Matchup against No. 22 Taylor

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio The No. 15 Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team (8-4, 1-1 CL) competed in Ariel Arena against the No. 22 Trojans of Taylor University (10-4, 1-1 CL) on Saturday, September 6.

Taylor started strong, claiming the first few points and holding a slight lead throughout much of the first set. MVNU fought back to tie the set at 22-22, but Taylor managed to close it out and take the early advantage. 

The momentum shifted in the second and third sets as the Lady Cougars found their rhythm. With dominant performances, MVNU secured back-to-back wins with scores of 25-16 and 25-14. In the final set, the Lady Cougars were unstoppable, riding their momentum to a commanding 25-7 victory to close out the match. 

At the net, Libby Evanshine led the charge with 20 kills, followed by Morgan Schlabach who added 13. Reagan Nuss facilitated the offense with an impressive 49 assists, while Faith Maloney and Jaelyn Tang fueled the defense, each recording 16 digs. 

 

What's Next 

The Lady Cougars will return to Ariel Arena to play against Huntington University on Wednesday, September 10. The first serve will be at 7:00 p.m.
