No. 15 MVNU Falls to Bethel in Ariel

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio The No. 15 Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team (6-4, 0-1 CL) competed at home in Ariel Arena, taking on the Bethel University Pilots (9-5, 1-0 CL) on Wednesday, September 3.  

The home match began on a high note, with the Lady Cougars claiming the first set 25-17 in the conference opener. However, the Bethel Pilots found their rhythm and responded by taking the next two sets, 25-17 and 25-19. 

In a tightly contested final set, MVNU jumped out to an early lead but couldn't hold off Bethel's late push. The Lady Cougars ultimately fell to a close 23-25 finish, marking their first league loss of the season. 

Faith Maloney led the team at the net with 14 kills and 2 blocks, while Reagan Nuss made a strong all-around contribution, tallying 37 assists, 15 digs, and 4 kills. 

 

What's Next 

The Lady Cougars will be traveling to Portsmouth, Ohio to take on Shawnee State University on Friday, September 5, at 6:00 p.m.
