UPLAND, Ind. – The No. 14 Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team (5-2) competed in the first day of the AMFM Tournament, hosted by Taylor University on Friday, August 29.
MVNU opened the day against Campbellsville University (4-5). Campbellsville opened the match with a 25-20 set one win. The Lady Cougars answered the Tigers' punch, winning the next two sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-18. Campbellsville battled back to tie the match with a 25-20 set for win. MVNU pulled ahead late in the final set and won 15-12, taking the match in five sets.
Faith Maloney led MVNU with 15 kills, and Libby Evanshine had 12. Jaelyn Tang finished with 18 digs, five assists and three service aces. Reagan Nuss had a monster match, finishing with 41 assists, 13 digs, six blocks, and three kills.
The Lady Cougars faced (RV) Indiana Tech (3-3) in their second match of the day and would go on to win it in four sets by scores of 25-17, 17-25, 25-18, and 25-18. Nuss continued her sensational play, finishing with 43 assists and eight digs. With the effort, Nuss surpassed 3,000 career assists.
Maloney had a match-high 18 kills, while Evanshine and Brown added 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Tang had 21 digs in the match.

MVNU will wrap up the AMFM Tournament in Upland, Indiana against Missouri Baptist and St. Francis (Ill.) at 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30.
