MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's soccer team (4-0-1) remained undefeated after hosting Indiana University Kokomo (2-2-1) on Saturday, September 6 at CH4 Stadium.
The Lady Cougars took an early lead against the Kokomo Cougars in the first half. Chelsea Simpson was first to score for the Lady Cougars. After a cross assist from Emmie Hoffman and a tipped header from Bekah Blair, Simpson was able to finish, putting MVNU up 1-0 with 8:51 on the clock. Avery Erslan scored the second goal for MVNU unassisted at the 16th minute. MVNU would go on to win with the shutout of 2-0.
MVNU outshot IU Kokomo 27-4 with 20 shots being on goal. Alexis Hoffman led the team in shots with nine and seven of those were on goal. Hannah Miller earned her fourth shutout of the season after playing 90 minutes in the net for the Lady Cougars, and she grabbed four saves.
What's Next
MVNU will be back in action on Wednesday, September 10. The Lady Cougars will travel to Lima, Ohio to face off against the University of Northwestern Ohio, and kickoff will start at 4:00 p.m.
