Slow Start Dooms Lady Cougars Against (RV) Spring Arbor

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (4-7, 0-3 CL) hosted (RV) Spring Arbor University (7-1, 2-1 CL) in Ariel Arena on Wednesday, December 3.

A rough first quarter sank MVNU as it got down 16-0 and could not recover. SAU dominated and found itself up 27-3 after the first. MVNU had 10 turnovers in the first quarter and shot just 9.1% from the floor. SAU was strong once again in the second quarter and held a 45-17 lead heading into the break.

The visitors didn't slow down in the second half and would go on to win by a final of 76-41. 24 turnovers plagued MVNU, leading to 27 points for Spring Arbor. MVNU was outrebounded 45-36 and held the advantage in paint points with a 34-18 margin.

Anna Swisshelm led MVNU with 14 points on 5-7 shooting from the floor and 1-2 shooting from three. Angela Roshak had 10 rebounds and five blocks.
