MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (3-3) played its first home game on the season for homecoming weekend against Kentucky Christian University (2-4) on Friday, November 14.
MVNU opened the game with an early bucket from Kylie Leibacher. KCU briefly held its only lead of the night at the 6:03 mark in the first quarter, going up 7–4. By the end of the quarter, however, the Lady Cougars had taken control, building a seven-point advantage to lead 20–13.
Leibacher continued to set the tone in the second quarter, adding 14 points and 4 rebounds on her way to a 19-point first half performance. The Lady Cougars steadily widened the gap and entered halftime with a commanding 47–23 lead.
In the third quarter, Angela Roshak powered her way to six points and two rebounds, ultimately finishing with a double-double of 14 points and 10 boards.
Lily Shepherd led the Cougars in the final quarter, where she scored nine of her 18 total points. MVNU reached its largest lead at the 7:33 mark, going up by 26 points over KCU. Naomi Keib also made a strong impact, contributing 15 points and pulling down eight rebounds to help secure the Lady Cougars' first home victory of the season by a score of 87-69.
The Lady Cougars delivered a balanced performance, shooting 50% from the field, 39% from three (9-23) and 80% (8–10) at the line, while also outrebounding KCU 49-32. MVNU collected 21 assists on the night and got good production from its bench, finishing with 22 points.
Leibacher finished the night with a team-high 21 points. Shepherd added a team-high eight assists. Roshak led all Lady Cougars with four steal and two blocks.

The Lady Cougars will return to Ariel Arena on Saturday, November 15 to take on Oakland City with tip-off coming at 2:00 p.m.
