Women's Basketball Falls to No. 11 Saint Francis in Tough Road Matchup
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (10-5, 3-3 CL) traveled to face the No. 11 University of Saint Francis Lady Cougars (15-1, 5-1 CL) in a Crossroads League matchup on Wednesday, January 8, at the Hutzell Athletic Center.
MVNU started strong in the first quarter, taking an early 11-6 lead over Saint Francis. However, Saint Francis' offense quickly ignited, dominating the rest of the quarter. By the end of the first, they held a commanding 29-14 advantage. In the second quarter, MVNU struggled to find their rhythm offensively, while Saint Francis didn't miss a beat and extended their lead. At halftime, MVNU trailed 51-34.
MVNU stepped up its defensive intensity in the third and fourth quarters, limiting Saint Francis to just 33 points in the second half. However, Saint Francis' lead proved too great to overcome, and MVNU ultimately fell on the road with a final score of 84-65.
