MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (22-20, 15-17 CL) played at Bethel University (7-36, 3-28 CL) on Saturday, April 18.
MVNU dominated the Pilots from the start in game one and would cruise to a 16-2 victory, only needing four innings to do so. The Lady Cougars scored four runs in the first, three in the second, four in the third, and five in the fourth. Skylar Zimmerman put the finishing touches on the blowout win with a grand slam in the fourth inning. Kiera Mayer and Dakota Staffan also left the yard with home runs in the game. Overall, MVNU totaled 13 hits in the lopsided victory. Makenzie Delaney got the win in the circle for MVNU after keeping the Pilot lineup under control.
MVNU held a 1-0 lead in game two heading into the top of the seventh until Staffan hit her second home run of the day. This time, Staffan hit a three-run shot, giving MVNU a 4-0 lead. The Lady Cougars would go on to win with that score. Bailey Sheets had a great start for MVNU in the circle as she allowed just two hits through the full seven innings.

MVNU will take on Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana on Tuesday, April 21. The doubleheader is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
