Comeback Effort Falls Short at Aquinas

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (8-10, 5-7 WHAC) played on the road at Aquinas College (5-14, 3-8 WHAC) on Friday, March 20.

MVNU dropped the first two sets of the match, each by scores of 18-25. The Cougars dug deep in set three, dominating the Saints while hitting a red-hot .444. MVNU took set three by a score of 25-10. MVNU stayed hot in set four and would tie the match with a 25-21 win. MVNU and Aquinas were tied at 12-12 in the fifth and final set, but two straight points for the Saints gave them control. The short-handed Cougars battled hard but would fall in the set 13-15.

Noah Wineberg led MVNU with 12 kills and three blocks. Hayvin Larison, Tommy Tierney, and Christian Kyer each had 10 kills for the Cougars. Teirney and Xander Devault each added nine digs. Jaxson Snell had 31 assists for MVNU and Austin Kolaczkowski had 22 assists of his own.

 

What's Next

MVNU remains on the road for a match at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, March 21. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
