Haney Sets Program Record for Career Goals in Win at Brevard
BREVARD, N.C. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's lacrosse team improved to 4-1 on the season after its 19-6 win at Brevard College on Thursday, February 26.
MVNU was on a roll in the first quarter, scoring eight goals to put the game away early. The scoring continued in the second as the Cougars added four more, taking a 12-1 lead into halftime.
Entering the game, Ethan Haney was just two goals away from cementing himself as the all-time leader in goals scored for the men's lacrosse program. Haney, who had 78 career goals, tied Tyler Dickerson's mark of 79 goals with a shot early in the second. The junior from Cambridge, Ohio later took sole place of first in the record books with another goal to start the third quarter, giving him 80 in his career. Haney wasn't done yet, scoring his third and final goal of the day to put MVNU up 17-3 late in the third quarter. MVNU went on to win 19-6.
Dylan Haynes led MVNU in goals on the day, finishing with five. Connor Kistner had four goals, while Chase Lawler and Haney each added three. Rylin Batac led MVNU with eight ground balls, and Vaughan Hawkins had 13 saves in goal. Zechariah Gee was 8-of-12 on face-off attempts.

MVNU heads to Duncan, South Carolina for a game with Columbia (SC) at James F. Byrnes high school on Saturday, March 7. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
