No. 12 Women’s Volleyball Advances to Crossroads League Championship with Sweep of Marian
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The No. 12 Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team (25-7, 14-4 CL) hosted (RV) Marian University (18-11, 9-9 CL) in the Crossroads League Semifinal on Wednesday, November 12 at Ariel Arena.
MVNU returned as the second seed, while facing Marian, the sixth seed. Marian took an early lead in the first set, putting it up 14-10, but MVNU quickly responded. Libby Evanshine and Eliana Morgan blocked an attack from Marian that tied the match up 14-14 to continue a rallied momentum to a 25-17 win in the first set. After MVNU took an 18-13 lead in the second set, Marian rallied five points to tie up the match to then take a 23-20 lead. MVNU battled back, and after a back-to-back scoring battle, MVNU would go on to win the second set 30-28. The Lady Cougars continued their momentum into set three, not giving Marian any opening and would win the third set 25-13 in a clean sweep.
Evanshine led MVNU in kills with 15 kills and added two digs, three blocks, and one service ace. Evelyn Brown had 12 kills, and Faith Maloney had ten kills for the Lady Cougars. Jaelyn Tang recorded 16 digs, five assists, and three service aces. Reagan Nuss came away with 38 assists, 15 digs, four blocks, and two service aces.

No. 12 MVNU will continue to the Crossroads League Championship as the second seed to face the first seed, No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday, November 15 in Marion, Indiana at 3:00 p.m.
