No. 14 Women’s Volleyball Ready to Start 2025 Season

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The No. 14 Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's volleyball team looks to start its 2025 fall season, after its strong performance during the 2024 season. MVNU finished with a record of 31-5 overall and made it into Pool Play in the NAIA Tournament for the second consecutive season under Head Coach, Kendra Mosher. MVNU finished second in the Crossroads League with a conference mark of 15-3.

MVNU took its first win in Pool Play with a 3-0 sweep against The Master's. MVNU's fantastic 2024 season came to an end in the second round of Pool Play against Concordia University (Nebraska). MVNU will start the 2025 season ranked 14th in the NAIA Women's Volleyball Top 25 Preseason Poll, which makes it the second highest ranked school in the Crossroads League.

MVNU has a talented returning group who will be looking to carry on the momentum of last season. Senior, Jaelyn Tang is returning as the starting libero for MVNU and is coming off an impressive season after a career-high of 559 digs and 106 assists. Senior, Reagan Nuss is returning as the starting setter for MVNU. On the court last season, Nuss had 1,216 assists and 399 digs. Along with All-Crossroads League honors, Tang and Nuss also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors last season, showing their excellence on the court and academically.

Junior, Libby Evanshine will be returning for the MVNU offensive attack as an outside hitter. Evanshine made the All-Crossroads League First Team as well as the Midcentral Region First team after her impressive season on the court where she came away with 415 kills. Senior, Faith Maloney also returns for MVNU after earning All-Crossroads League Honorable Mention honors in 2024 as a middle hitter. MVNU will be led by team captains Tang, Senior, Ashley Merrick, and Junior, Lilla Nicholas.

Coach Mosher brought in four freshmen to add to an already talented roster: Morgan Schlabach (OH/RS from Sugarcreek, Ohio), Mia Burr (MH from Cedarville, Ohio), Mackenzie Reeves (DS/L from South Solon, Ohio), and Evelyn Brown (MH from Canal Winchester, Ohio).

Women's volleyball will start its season at Summer Slam 2025 in Fullerton California, competing in a series of matches on Friday, August 22 and Saturday, August 23. MVNU will be tested early playing three opponents in the NAIA Top 25 Poll. The first match on Friday will start at 3:00 p.m. against No. 6 Southern Oregon, and will be followed by a Pool Play rematch against No. 23 The Master's at 9:00 p.m.
