Women’s Track & Field Earns Second Place at Duane Gomez Invitational

GAMBIER Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's track & field team participated in the Duane Gomez Invitational at Kenyon College on Saturday, April 18. MVNU also had a select few athletes participating in the 56th Annual Hillsdale "GINA" Relays at Hillsdale College on April 17-18.

The women placed second out of eight teams with 103 points. Ohio Wesleyan would claim first on the women's side.

 

Women's Top Running Performers

Leah Cooper placed first in the 100m with a time of 12.62.

Maddy Lengacher claimed a victory in the 400m with a time of 57.98.

Isabel Henderson placed second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.40.

The 4x400m relay of Kate Ruffle, Cooper, Caitlyn Shipley, and Lauren Warder placed second with a time of 4:12.87.

At the Hillsdale meet, Makenna Langford placed ninth with a school record time of 2:18.08 in the 800m. Langford also placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.30. The field of competition was mainly against D1 and D2 competition.

The women's 4x800m relay at Hillsdale of Ashley Yoder, Jenna Brumbaugh, Allison Bonito, and Louisa Hallabrin placed first with a time of 9:33.40.

 

Women's Top Field Performers

Henderson won the long jump with a mark of 5.42m.

Shyanne Moser placed fourth in shotput with a throw of 12.25m.

 

What's Next

MVNU next competes on April 22-23 in Alliance, Ohio in the Mount Union Classic.
