Lady Cougars Finish Crossroads League Championship

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's track & field team concluded the Crossroads League Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the University of Notre Dame on Friday, May 6.

MVNU finished the meet in ninth overall with 23 points. Marian University took the conference crown with 211 points, and Indiana Wesleyan University placed second with 134 points. Taylor University rounded out the top three with 127 points.

Top Performers

Along with her top three finish in the 10000m the day before, Macy Weaver also earned All-League honors with a second place finish in the 5000m run. Weaver crossed the finish line with a time of 18:06.54.

After running well enough in day one to make it to finals, Missy Emery placed ninth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.99.

Makayla Roberts placed ninth out of 28 throwers in the discus with a throw of 46.04 meters.

Ashley Burgess placed 14 overall in the 400m run with a time of 1:04.64.

Emerson Hamsher placed 20 overall out of 29 runners in the 1500m run with a time of 5:29.21. Julia Kanagy finished right behind Hamsher with a time of 5:31.65. Hamsher was also 23 overall in the 800m run with a time of 2:42.57.

What's Next

MVNU will compete in the Last Chance Weekend, hosted by the University of Saint Francis (Ill.) in Joliet, Illinois on May 13-14.
