Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Both Place Third at Bob Shannon Invitational

GRANVILLE, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's and women's track and field teams traveled to compete in the Bob Shannon Invitational hosted by Dennison University on Saturday, February 7. 

Both men's and women's teams, participating in 16 events, placed third place out of the 12 teams. The women's finished with a team score of 75, and the men's finished with a team score of 76.50. MVNU also had a small group of athletes competing in the Orange and Black Invitational at Indiana Tech on February 6 and the IWU Midwest Classic on February 7. 

 

Men's Top Performers 

At Indiana Tech, the 4x800m relay of Daron Porter, Simon Rohwer, Ryan Lehman, and Evan Hodkinson hit the NAIA A Standard and placed second with a school record time of 7:42.62. The mark is the second fastest in the NAIA this season. 

At the IWU Midwest Classic, Hodkinson hit the B Standard again in the 800m, winning the event with a time of 1:53.97. 

Tyler Shipley placed first in pole vault with a school record height of 4.90m. 

Reed Johnson finished second in the 200m with a time of 23.24. 

Mason Hendrickson placed second in the 1 mile with a time of 4:32.33. 

Porter placed second in the 600m at the IWU Midwest Classic with a school record time of 1:21.76. 

Aaron Gannon came in third place in the 800m with a time of 2:04.13. 

Brayden Wiles came in fourth place for the 200m with a time of 23.27. Wiles also placed fourth in high jump with a height of 1.85m. 

Marshall Carr tied for fifth place in high jump at a height of 1.80m. 

Seth McCloskey took fifth place in the 200m with a time of 23.28. 

Chandler Hartman came in fifth in shot put with 14.82m. Hartman also finished fourth in the weight throw with 14.42m. 

 

Women's Top Performers 

Leah Cooper placed first in the 60m with a time of 7.98. 

Kate Ruffle took first place in long jump with a final distance of 5.21m. 

Maddy Lengacher placed first in the 200m with a school record time of 26.39. 

Isabel Henderson finished second, right behind Lengacher in the 200m, with a time of 26.70. Henderson also placed second in long jump with 5.17m. 

Makenna Langford finished second in the 400m with a time of 1:00.90. Langford also placed third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.49. 

Tammy Liplin came in second place in the 3000m with a time of 10:52.87. 

Louisa Hallabrin placed fourth in the 800m at the IWU Midwest Classic with a time of 2:23.52. 

Julia Kanagy finished fifth in the 3000m with a time of 11:18.40. 

 

What's Next 

The men's and women's track and field teams will next travel to Tiffin, Ohio to compete in the Tiffin Robinson Family Open, hosted by Tiffin University at the Heminger Center on Saturday, February 14.
