Holloway Hits Standard for Women’s Track and Field

MARION, Ind. — The MVNU track & field teams competed at the IWU Midwest Classic, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University on February 3. The MVNU throwers competed at the Jud Logan "Light Giver" Open at Ashland University on February 2.

Top Performers: 

Brooke Holloway – NAIA A Standard - Second Place – Pole Vault – 3.57m

Lyssi Snouffer – Second Place – 600m – 1:39.44

Snouffer – Third Place – High Jump – 1.60m 

Ellyn Coe – Eighth Place – 1000m – 3:09.40

Louisa Hallabrin, Coe, Snouffer, Ally Potter – Second Place – 4x400m Relay – 4:11.80

Coach Gallions Thoughts:

It was an exciting weekend for our women's program as part of our roster traveled to Ashland University, while the main group headed to IWU. At Ashland, Shyannne Moser had a season best outing in shot put that bodes well ahead of conference in two weeks. Over at IWU, field events were a major highlight of the day. Standing tall in this area was Brooke Holloway with an A standard vault. Brooke has been diligently working on her craft and it was beautiful to see it come full circle yesterday with her big-time clearance. This is great timing ahead of conference and nationals. Rachel Wilson also had a stellar day in long jump with a big PR in that event and I'm excited for the work she has been putting in! Lyssi continues to be consistent in high jump with another top three finish. Our distance ladies also proved to be showing growth as many of them hit personal records, which was highlighted by Lauren Warder running a 2:33.91 and winning her heat in that event. Lyssi was also strong in the 600 by bringing home a second-place finish with a time that put her in the top couple in our league, which is great to see ahead of conference. Our ladies finished the day with another strong run in the 4x4 to finish second behind Bethel. Ellyn closed hard in the final moments of the race to overtake IWU's team. Excited about the effort from our ladies and looking forward to conference in two weeks!"

MVNU women's track & field will compete at the Crossroads League Championships, hosted by Marian University on February 16-17.
