Women’s Track and Field Performs Well at Muskie Meet

NEW CONCORD, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's indoor track and field team competed in the Muskie Meet No.3, hosted by Muskingum University on Saturday, January 27.

MVNU placed fourth out of 16 teams at the meet with 70 points.

Ellyn Coe – First Place – 1000m – 3:04.06

Ally Potter – First Place – 200m – 27.04

Ashley Burgess, Lyssi Snouffer, Louisa Hallabrin, Elizabeth Potts – First Place – 4x400m Relay – 4:11.12

Snouffer – First Place – High Jump – 1.62m

Snouffer – Second Place – 400m – 1:00.98

Brooke Holloway – Third Place – Pole Vault – 3.36m

Nevaeh Williams – Third Place – Weight Throw – 13.98m

Gracelyn Frame – Fifth Place – Shotput – 11.27m

Coach Gallion's Thoughts:

"Our women's track and field team headed into Muskingum knowing it was going to be a full day and that many opportunities would be available to perform well. Our field event ladies got us off to a strong start today with several ladies hitting seasonal bests and scoring a top three finish. Lyssi has been absolutely consistent in the high jump and proved that again today with a first-place finish. Brooke also got back to some high heights in the vault with a third place finish and was back over 11feet in the event. She has been building all season and I'm excited to see what the next couple weeks holds! To round out field events, Nevaeh had another weight throw PR and finished in the top three for us here. She has been showing some exciting marks in this event. From the distance crew, Ellyn, has shown up strong the last couple of weeks and today was no different with a stellar run in the 1000. It was a personal record and event winner on top of being incredibly close to a national standard. To round out the day, our sprint ladies had a couple big events in the 200 and 400. Lyssi came in with another strong event in the 400 to the tune of a second-place finish and another personal record. She has become a force in this event also. Then, Ally Potter performed super well in the 200 with a personal record and event win. Ally has really been building into the season and I'm very impressed with her growth so far. Ally and Lyssi then teamed up with Ashley and Louisa to take home the four-by-four crown in an exciting finish to the meet. Louisa showed a lot of grit to hold onto the lead down the stretch. Very proud of our ladies this weekend and excited for the opportunity to grow more next weekend!"

MVNU competes in the IWU Midwest Classic, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday, February 3.
