Lady Cougars Run at Warrior Invitational
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's track & field team competed at the Warrior Invite, hosted by the Indiana Institute of Technology on Friday, January 20.
Top Performers
Ashley Burgess ran a time of 1:03.32 in the 400m dash to surpass her own previous school record.
Lyssi Snouffer was able to beat her own school record in the high jump, clearing a mark of 1.58m, while placing 5th out of 20 competitors.
The team of Ellyn Coe, Lily Scarberry, Jocelyn Dornbirer, and Morgan Forney claimed first in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 13:13.68.
The team of Burgess, Snouffer, Scarberry, and Kaitlin Meade placed third in the 4x400 in a time of 4:16.48.
Coach Gallion's Thoughts
"For our lady's freshman Gracelyn Frame continues to show growth in shot put. She had a PR in that event and I'm excited for what she adds to this team. Our other big field event performance came from Lyssi Snouffer. Lyssi is continuing to show improvement in high jump and had a great seasonal PR while showing the ability for more. Across the distance events our DMR crew of Ellyn Coe, Jocelyn Dornbirer, Lily Scarberry, and Morgan Forney had a strong first place showing. I was specifically happy to see Jocelyn run a tremendous 800 leg before returning later in the day for a strong finish in the mile. In the sprints Ashley Burgess got into a nice race in the 400 and that helped her chop down her own school record by nearly a second. She was joined by Lyssi, Lily, and Kaitlin Meade in the 4x4 where they ran another strong race to finish second. Growth was had and growth will continue to be the mindset as we head into Muskingum next weekend!"

MVNU will compete at the Muskingum Invite, hosted by Muskingum University on January 28.
