Lady Cougars Clinch Crossroads League Tournament Spot with Win over Huntington

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's soccer team (8-7-2, 3-6 CL) played its last regular season conference game of the season at CH4 Stadium against the Foresters of Huntington University (7-9, 2-7 CL) on Wednesday, October 29.  

MVNU struck first within the opening six minutes, as Cora Bishop headed in a goal off a corner kick from Alexis Hoffman to give the Lady Cougars an early lead on their home field. With 12 minutes remaining in the first half, Bishop found the back of the net again, her second goal of the match, assisted by Bekah Blair. The goals for Bishop were the first two of her MVNU career. At halftime, MVNU led 2-0. 

In the second half, Meghan Moser notched her third goal of the season at the 76-minute mark, extending MVNU's lead to 3-0. Just three minutes later, Moser scored again to seal the victory and cap off the Lady Cougars' final home match with a dominant 4-0 win over Huntington. The victory secured MVNU a spot in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals. 

 

What's Next 

The Lady Cougars will begin the Crossroads League Tournament as the seventh seed on Wednesday, November 5 against No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. Game time is TBA.
