Lady Cougars Fall to No. 6 Wildcats

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's soccer team (7-4-2, 2-4-0 CL) faced No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan University (11-1-1, 5-0-1) for a conference match at CH4 Stadium on Wednesday, October 15.  

The Lady Cougars played stellar defense in the first half, holding off the Wildcats and forcing a 0-0 tie at the break against the sixth ranked team in the nation. 

In the second half, however, the Wildcats broke through, scoring on a PK after a handball in the box in the 73rd minute. The guests added a second goal in the 85th minute to ice the match. 

Goalkeeper Hannah Miller recorded 19 saves in the game, delivering a standout performance despite the 0-2 loss. IWU had 35 total shots, with 21 of them being on goal. MVNU had nine shots with three of them on goal. Alexis Hoffman had two shots on frame, while Meghan Moser had the other shot on goal for the Lady Cougars. 

 

What's Next 

MVNU will be traveling to Taylor University on Saturday, October 18. Kickoff in Upland, Indiana will be at 7:00 p.m.
