Cougars Split in Michigan

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. - The Mount Vernon Women's Lacrosse team (3-1) defeated Central Michigan University on Saturday, October 29, 2022, and fell to Oakland University in a tournament hosted by Oakland University.

In game one, the Lady Cougars fought hard against Oakland and ended up losing 2-7 as the final score. OU came out strong, scoring four goals in the first quarter, then MVNU responded with two goals from Zayanna Ntia and Jessie Kyer allowing MVNU to win the second quarter. Goalie Laney Jackson ended the game with 13 saves, a personal record, but the offense could not get any goals toward the end of the game. In game two against Central Michigan University, Samantha Poor came out strong to score two goals in the first quarter, followed by six more goals from other offensive players, as well as junior defender Ellie Brillhart. The Lady Cougars would end game two in a shutout with a score of 8-0.

The Lady Cougars will play their last fall season game at Xavier Universtiy in Cincinnati, Ohio at 2:00pm Saturday, November 5.
