Lady Cougars Fall to Taylor University

UPLAND, Ind. - The Mount Vernon Women's Lacrosse Team (0-2) fell to Taylor University by a score of 7-5 at Trojan Field on Saturday, April 2.

The Lady Trojans started the game strong with two goals right out of the box. MVNU responded with an isolated goal from Jessie Kyer. The game went back and forth with many ground balls for the rest of the second quarter, then Samantha Poor attempted a shot that was saved by the Taylor goalie, but then dropped into the goal, making the score 3-2 Trojans. Before the half, the Lady Cougars scored two more goals making it 3-4, MVNU, at the half. The Lady Cougars had control of the game going into the second half but ran out of gas in the fourth quarter. Taylor scored three goals in a row within five minutes of play to end the game with a score of 7-5.

The Lady Cougars were led by Poor who scored two goals and had one assist.

Jane Gum scored one goal, which was her first on the season.

Kyer scored one goal.

Rebekah Kalas had nine saves in goal.

What's Next

The Lady Cougars are on the road again next weekend as they take on Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. The draw is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, April 9.
