Three Lady Cougars Honored by Crossroads League

JACKSON, Mich. — The Crossroads League announced its postseason awards and honors on Tuesday, May 6, and the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's softball team had three players honored. 

Avery Miller, a junior from Chillicothe, Ohio, was the first to be honored, earning First Team honors. Miller played in all 50 games for the Lady Cougars this season, starting at third base. Miller posted an impressive .432 batting average, driving in 58 runs and hitting 9 home runs. Her recognition extended beyond offense, as she was also celebrated for her strong defensive performance, making several key plays in the infield. 

Senior, Mollie Pentz from Mount Vernon, Ohio, earned Second Team All-Conference honors after an outstanding season. She posted a .405 batting average, drove in 32 runs, and crossed the plate 36 times. Defensively, she was a standout at first base, committing just one error all season for a .996 fielding percentage and turning five double plays. 

Skylar Zimmerman had a strong debut in her first season as a Lady Cougar, earning honorable mention recognition. The freshman from South Webster posted a .407 batting average, hit five home runs, and recorded 10 stolen bases for MVNU. Zimmerman recorded 70 hits total and batted in 40 runs. Starting all 50 games in right field, she also contributed defensively with a .935 fielding percentage and 67 putouts.
