Softball Closes Regular Season with Pair of Wins at Grace

WINONA LAKE, Ind. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (29-19, 22-14) closed the 2024 regular season at Grace College (16-28, 12-24) on Saturday, April 27.

MVNU claimed victory in game one of the doubleheader by a score of 6-2. Kiera Mayer's 13th home run of the season put two runs on the board early in the top of the first. MVNU never looked back and controlled the rest of the game. Mallory Holcomb, Bailey Sheets, Avery Miller, and Kylie Rohr each had an RBI for MVNU. Maddelyn Wine got the win, allowing eight hits and just one earned run in 5.1 innings pitched.

Nadia Hoffman stayed hot in the circle for MVNU as her one-hitter resulted in a 2-0 win in game two. Hoffman had 10 strikeouts in her start. Both of MVNU's runs came in the sixth inning thanks to RBI's from Mackenzie Hancock and Wine.

What's Next:

MVNU will compete in the Crossroads League softball tournament, hosted by Spring Arbor University. MVNU is the four-seed and will begin play on May 1 at 10:00am against the winner of Huntington and Goshen.
