Softball Overpowers Goshen

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (27-19, 20-14) got the sweep of Goshen College (23-23, 12-20) on Thursday, April 25.

MVNU dominated the Maple Leafs from the start. The Lady Cougars took game one by a score of 8-0 in five innings. Nadia Hoffman put together a great performance in the circle, allowing just three hits in the shutout win. Hoffman had 10 strikeouts in her five innings pitched. Mollie Pentz, Kiera Mayer, and Mackenzie Hancock each batted in two runs. Sydney Hoover finished game one with an RBI as well.

MVNU stayed hot in game two, winning in five once again. MVNU scored four runs in the first and six in the third on the way to its 10-0 win. Mayer hit a two-run bomb and Kylie Rohr batted in two for the Lady Cougars. Pentz, Hancock, Zhari Hill and Avery Miller each had an RBI for MVNU. Sheridan Sullivan was dominant in her start, allowing just one hit. The senior had nine strikeouts for MVNU.

 

What's Next:

MVNU wraps up the regular season on Saturday, April 27 at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. The doubleheader begins at 1:00pm.
