Softball Swept at Taylor

UPLAND, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (14-16, 7-11) played at Taylor University (21-15, 13-9) on Friday, April 12.

MVNU dropped the first game of the day by a score of 0-5. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth where the Trojans scored all their runs in the game. MVNU finished with four hits in the game and was unable to get anything going offensively to start a comeback. Zhari Hill, Avery Miller, Mackenzie Hancock, and Kiera Mayer each had a base hit for MVNU in the game.

Game two saw MVNU get on the board fast as it took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Mayer drove home Mollie Pentz with an RBI single to shortstop. Unfortunately for the Lady Cougars, Taylor's offensive flipped a switch, scoring nine answered runs to win by a final score of 9-1 in five innings. Pentz led MVNU in game two with a 3-3 performance at the plate.

 

What's Next:

MVNU hosts Spring Arbor University on Senior Day on Saturday, April 13. The doubleheader begins at 3:00pm.
