INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (12-12, 5-7) played a doubleheader at No.7 Marian University (23-5, 11-3) on Saturday, March 30.
MVNU fell in the first game of the doubleheader by a score of 0-8 but bounced back in a big way in the second game of the day. MVNU trailed 5-8 heading into the bottom of the seventh but used a five-run inning to pull off the comeback. Mallory Holcomb scored after an Avery Miller RBI single. Mackenzie Hancock batted in Mollie Pentz to cut the deficit to 7-8. Kiera Mayer was the hero of the day for MVNU as she hit a go-ahead three-run homer to put the Lady Cougars up 10-8. MVNU would hold on in the bottom of the seventh for the comeback victory.
Nadia Hoffman was credited with the win for MVNU after pitching 2.2 innings. Hoffman gave up two earned runs and two hits while striking out three.

MVNU hosts Grace College on Tuesday, April 2. First pitch is set for 3:00pm.
