Lady Cougars Swept by No.14 Indiana Wesleyan

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (9-9, 2-4) hosted No.14 Indiana Wesleyan University (15-3, 6-0) on Saturday, March 16.

MVNU lost in five innings in the first game by a score of 0-8. The offensive could not get anything going as it finished game one with just two hits. A five-run third for the guests on the scoreboard broke the game open.

Game two saw MVNU's offense come to life as it scored 10 runs. MVNU outhit IWU 16-11, but still couldn't come away with the victory. The Lady Cougars had four errors which aided the Wildcats. Trailing 8-13 heading into the bottom of the inning, MVNU was able to threaten a comeback. MVNU scored two runs from a Wildcat error and a Mollie Pentz RBI-single but was unable to find the game-tying run. MVNU would fall by a final score of 10-13 in the end.

 

What's Next:

Softball will play at Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan on Tuesday, March 19. The doubleheader is set to begin at 3:00pm.
