Softball Splits in Minneola

MINNEOLA, Fla. – The (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (5-3) played Bellevue (4-8) and Judson (1-10) at the Minneola Sports Complex on Monday, March 4.

MVNU powered past Bellevue by a score of 5-0 in the first game of the day. Two runs in the second and three runs in the sixth to put the game away propelled the Lady Cougars to victory. Brooklyn Krum and Mackenzie Hancock each finished with two RBI. Kennady Ruhl also batted in a run to pad MVNU's lead late. Nadia Hoffman had a stellar outing, pitching all seven innings and allowing just one hit and no runs. The junior had 11 strikeouts.

After beating Judson 15-1 on Saturday, March 2, MVNU would fall to the Eagles this time around by a score of 3-7. Judson jumped on MVNU 2-0 early and never looked back. Sydney Hoover proved to be a bright spot for MVNU as the freshman catcher finished 2-3 at the dish with two runs batted in. Bailey Sheets pitched 2.1 innings of shutout softball in relief, allowing just one hit with one strikeout.

 

What's Next:

MVNU takes on Judson yet again and Dordt tomorrow, March 5 in Kissimmee, Florida. Game times are set for 9:00am and 11:30am.
