Mayer's Big Day Leads to Wins over PSU-Brandywine and Judson

CLERMONT, Fla. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (4-2) extended its winning streak to four games with wins over PSU-Brandywine (1-1) and Judson (0-8) on Saturday, March 3.
MVNU defeated Brandywine 6-0 after a four run first inning set the tone early. After an Avery Miller double drove in two runs, Kiera Mayer hit a two-run bomb to make the score 4-0. Sheridan Sullivan was the story in the victory for MVNU as the senior was nearly untouchable in the circle. Sullivan pitched the full seven innings and only allowed two hits while striking out 13 batters.
The Lady Cougars grounded the Eagles in game two of the day as they won in blowout fashion. MVNU collected 13 hits in the 15-1 beatdown of Judson. Mayer continued her hot streak as she hit three homeruns in the win and batted in seven runs. Maddelyn Wine pitched all five innings for MVNU and allowed just three hits and a run. Wine had three strikeouts.

MVNU plays Bellevue and Judson at 9:00am and 11:15am on Monday, March 4.
