MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. — The No.25 Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (26-11, 18-10 CL) hosted No.12 Marian University (36-4, 25-3) on Wednesday, April 19 at the Cougar Softball Field.

After dropping the first game of the doubleheader to the Knights by a final of 8-4, the Lady Cougars bounced back with a 10-7 game two victory, handing the visitors just their fourth loss of the regular season and third loss in conference play.

The runs continued to pour in for the Lady Cougars in the bottom of the fourth as they jumped on the Knights with five more. Miller and Mayer stayed hot as they each hit an RBI in the fourth. Kennady Ruhl then cleared the bases with a three-run double, pushing MVNU's lead to 10-3. The Knights cut the lead to 10-6 in the top of the fifth with a three-run homer. Marian added another run in the seventh and threatened to win the game with the bases loaded, but Sheridan Sullivan shut the door on the comeback attempt with her 12th strikeout of the ballgame.
