Lady Cougars Get Emphatic Sweep at Saint Francis
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (16-3, 8-2 CL) took two on the road against the University of Saint Francis (5-13, 1-9 CL) on Tuesday, March 28.
MVNU only need six innings in game one to take down the Cougars of Saint Francis. MVNU totaled 11 hits for 11 runs offensively. Kaycee Ollis had a big day at the plate for MVNU. The senior hit her second homerun of the season and went 3-4 at the plate. Ollis also drove in three runs. Macee Marcum went 3-4 at the plate as well and drove in two runs. Kiera Mayer continued to make her presence felt, driving in three runs of her own.
Sheridan Sullivan picked up the win in the circle. Sullivan pitched all six-innings, shutting out the Saint Francis lineup. The junior allowed just three hits and had 11 strikeouts.
Game two was much of the same for the visitors as they scored 11 runs and only needed six innings to take the victory. A huge, six-run fourth inning broke the game open for the Lady Cougars. Marcum continued to be a force offensively for MVNU. The senior drove in four runs at the plate. As she did in game one, Mayer drove in three more runs in the backend of the doubleheader.
Maddelyn Wine and Nadia Hoffman split the work in the circle for MVNU. Wine pitched 1.2 innings and Hoffman 4.1. Hoffman allowed two hits, no runs, and had seven strikeouts.

MVNU travels to Marian, Indiana for a doubleheader with No.6 Indiana Wesleyan University. First pitch is set for 4:00pm.
