Lady Cougars Set Single Game Program Run Record, Take Two in Leesburg

LEESBURG, Fla. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (6-0, 0-0 CL) defeated both Judson University (0-3, 0-0) and Penn State-Greater Allegheny (0-1, 0-0) in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 4.

In game one against Judson, MVNU scored four runs in the first inning and tacked on a run in each of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to earn the 7-1 victory over the Eagles. Kaycee Ollis was 1-for-3 at the plate, driving in three, and scoring herself. Mallory Shoup and Paige Ogden were each 2-for-3 and Kennady Ruhl and Mollie Pentz each went 2-for-4, with Pentz scoring twice. Nadia Hoffman got the win for MVNU and pitched 7.0 innings, only giving up one earned run on one hit and three walks. She struck out eight on the day.

Game two saw the Lady Cougars break a program record for most runs scored in a game as they beat up on Penn State-Greater Allegheny by a score of 35-1. MVNU also set a new program record for RBI in a single game with 30 and did the same for hits with 32. Maddelyn Wine struck out eight and gave up just two hits in the win.

What's Next

The Lady Cougars will be off on Sunday before playing a doubleheader against Penn State-Kensington and the University of Northwestern Ohio on Monday, March 6. First pitch for game one is set for 9:00am in Minneola, Florida.
