Lady Cougars Open Season with Sweep of Point Park

In game one, MVNU jumped all over the Pioneers from the start, scoring seven runs across the first two innings. Kaycee Ollis got the offense going with an RBI-double in the first. The bats remained hot from that point. MVNU finished the first game of the doubleheader with nine runs off 12 hits at the plate.

Sheridan Sullivan was dealing in the circle for the Lady Cougars in the 9-1 victory in five innings. The junior went the full five and allowed just one hit. The righty struck out seven and allowed no earned runs.

Hot bats and dominant pitching remained the storyline in the second game of the day against the Pioneers. With a 4-0 lead in the fifth, Kylee Pettit hit an inside the park homerun that also brought home Zhari Hill. A five-run inning in the seventh, highlighted by a three run double by Kennady Ruhl, pushed MVNU to its decisive 12-1 win.

Paige Ogden got the win in her first collegiate game. The freshman pitched four innings and allowed just three hits and zero earned runs. Nadia Hoffman pitched two innings of relief, allowing one run (unearned) while striking out five.
