Wineberg Earns NAIA Defender of the Week
KANSAS City, Mo. – Men's volleyball senior, Noah Wineberg earned the NAIA Defender of the Week honor on Tuesday, February 3.
This honor is the first for any MVNU men's volleyball player in program history. Wineberg also earned the WHAC Defender of the Week for the second time in his career on Monday, February 2, which made him eligible to earn the NAIA Defender of the Week.
Over the past two matches, the senior from Weirton, West Virginia came away with a total of 12 blocks. On Saturday, January 31, Wineberg's performance of six blocks and seven kills helped secure a 3-0 sweep over Aquinas College.
Once a walk-on with no volleyball experience prior to college, Wineberg's senior season has started off strong with 30 kills, a .371 hitting percentage, and 18 blocks. MVNU is off to a 4-1 start and 1-0 start in conference play.
The Cougars will next face Goshen College on Friday, February 6 at 7:00 p.m.
