Men’s Volleyball Comes Up Short in Four-Set Loss to Rio

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. —  The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (1-6) returned to Ariel Arena on Tuesday, February 11, for a non-conference game against the University of Rio Grande Red Storm (5-3).

MVNU fell in four sets to Rio Grande, 20-25, 22-25, 25-18, and 22-25. Despite securing a third-set victory, MVNU was unable to complete the comeback, as Rio Grande maintained control to take the match 3-1.

Ethan Cline led the offensive effort with 12 kills on 29 attempts, hitting .241 while also adding 6 digs, 2 assists, and 1 ace. Jackson Bush contributed 6 kills, while Daniel Daly recorded 7 kills and 4 blocks. Noah Wineberg added 6 kills and 2 block assists. Christian Kyer was effective with 3 kills on 7 attempts, 3 service aces, and 2 blocks. Setter Tyler Shields facilitated the attack with 28 assists.

 

What's Next

MVNU men's volleyball will be back in Ariel Arena for WHAC conference action on Friday, February 14, against Siena Heights University, with first serve at 7:00 p.m.
