Men’s Volleyball Picks Up Conference Win Against Bethel

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball (4-1, 2-1) had another WHAC matchup on Friday, February 16, facing Bethel University (6-1, 0-1) in Ariel Arena.

MVNU dominated the initial two sets against Bethel, seizing a commanding 2-0 lead. The scores for the respective sets were 25-15 and 25-19 in favor of MVNU. In the third set, the Cougars and Pilots engaged in a back-and-forth battle, exchanging points. However, Bethel surged ahead with a late run, ultimately securing the third set with a score of 25-22. In the fourth set, MVNU sealed the match victory against Bethel, winning by a score of 25-18.

 

Top Performers:

Spencer Stanley led the Cougars with 15 kills, 3 service aces, 3 blocks, and 1 dig.

Jaysen Matsumoto had 22 assists, 14 digs, 3 service aces, and 2 blocks.

Noah Wineberg added 8 kills and 3 blocks.

Landon Ewers had 8 kills, 4 blocks, and 3 service aces.

Riley Barretto had 6 kills and 2 digs.

Luke Funte had 4 blocks, 3 kills and 1 dig.

MVNU will be back in Ariel Arena against Bethel University on Saturday, February 17. First serve is at 6:00pm.
