Matsumoto Surpasses 2,500 Assists in Season Opening Win Against Trinity Christian

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball (1-0) opened its season on Friday, January 26 against Trinity Christian College in Ariel Arena (0-1).

MVNU delivered an impressive performance in its encounter with Trinity Christian, securing a 3-1 victory. The initial set was a tight contest, with the Cougars prevailing by a score of 25-23. MVNU dominated the second set, clinching it convincingly with a score of 25-17. Trinity Christian managed to make a comeback in the third set, claiming a win by a score of 27-25. The Cougars shook off the loss and sealed the night with a resounding win in the fourth set, winning 25-15.

In the win, senior setter Jaysen Matsumoto surpassed 2,500 assists in his MVNU career.
