Maple Leafs Outlast Cougars in Five
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (16-6, 11-5) fell to Goshen College (7-11, 5-10) in five sets on Saturday afternoon in Ariel Arena.
Prior to the match, MVNU honored seniors Jonathan Champlin, Jordan Hoag and Daniel Skrzypchak, as well as student assistants Lauren Jones and Chris Graber for their had work and dedication to the program.
The Cougars won the first set 25-17 before the Maple Leafs fought back to win the next two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-22. MVNU forced a final set by winning set four 25-17, but Goshen managed to grab an 18-16 win in set number five to clinch the win.
Inside the Box Score
Landon Ewers had 14 kills and four blocks on the day.
Spencer Stanley had 12 kills and four digs.
Luke Funte chipped in with 11 kills and five blocks.
Champlin had seven kills, six digs, and two blocks in the match.
Jaysen Matsumoto had 46 assists and 10 digs.
Skrzypchak had 13 digs for the Cougars.

The Cougars are back in action on Tuesday, March 21 as they travel to Rio Grande. First serve is slated for 7:00pm.
