Men’s Volleyball Hits 15 Wins for First Time in Program History

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (15-5, 10-4 WHAC) defeated Siena Heights University (5-11, 3-10 WHAC) for the second time in two days in four sets.

With the win, MVNU picked up its 15th win of the season, marking the first time in program history that they have hit that mark. The Cougars also picked up its 10th win in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Despite a slow start in which it lost the first set 18-25, MVNU stormed back to win the next three by scores of 28-26, 25-13, and 25-17. MVNU dominated up front, finishing the match with 22 blocks.

 

Inside the Box Score

Landon Ewers had a monster match for MVNU, finishing with 15 kills (.478) and 10 blocks.

Spencer Stanley led the Cougars with 18 kills. Stanley also added 11 digs and three block assists.

Makoa Van Gieson had 15 kills, five digs, and two service aces.

Jaysen Matsumoto had 52 assists, 13 digs, and four block assists.

Daniel Skrzypchak had a team-high 15 digs.

 

What's Next

MVNU hosts Goshen College on Friday, March 17 in Ariel Arena. First serve is set for 7:00pm.
