Cougars Lose to Indiana Tech in Five Sets

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – (RV) The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (11-5, 8-4 WHAC) fell to Indiana Tech (11-7, 10-1 WHAC) in five sets on Saturday afternoon, March 4.

After getting swept the night before by the Warriors, MVNU put together a much better showing as it pushed the No.15 team in the nation to five tight sets. The Cougars won the first set 26-24 before Indiana Tech took the next to sets by scores of 25-19 and 28-26. MVNU fought back in set four to win 25-23 and force a fifth set, which Indiana Tech won 17-15.

 

Inside the Box Score

Spencer Stanley led the way for the Cougars with 16 kills and seven digs.

Landon Ewers added 14 kills, seven blocks, and five digs.

Makoa Van Gieson had eight kills and four blocks.

Luke Funte also had eight kills on the day.

Jaysen Matsumoto had 51 assists and seven digs.

Daniel Skrzypchak led the team with 20 digs.

 

What's Next

The Cougars are next in action on Tuesday, March 7 as they travel to Springfield, Ohio to take on Wittenberg University. First serve is scheduled for 2:00pm.
