Men’s Volleyball Sweeps St. Mary of the Woods

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (10-3, 7-2 WHAC) defeated St. Mary of the Woods College (2-12, 0-9 WHAC) in three sets on Friday evening, February 24 at Ariel Arena.

The Cougars won the first two sets by scores of 25-17 before completing the sweep with a 25-23 victory in the third set.

 

Inside the Box Score

Makoa Van Gieson led the team with seven kills on the night.

Spencer Stanley had six kills and two digs on the night.

Landon Ewers had four kills and two digs.

Jonathan Champlin added four kills.

Jaysen Matsumoto had 25 assists and six digs on the night. Matsumoto is now one assist shy of 2,000 for his career.

 

What's Next

The Cougars are back in action on Saturday afternoon, February 25 as they host St. Mary of the Woods College in Ariel Arena. First serve is at 3:00pm.
