Track & Field Collects Six All-League Honors at Conference Meet

MARION, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams traveled to compete in the Crossroads League Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. 

The men's team placed fourth in the championship over the two days with 86 points, and the women placed sixth overall with 38 points. Marian University won the meet on both the men's and women's side. 

 

Top Men's Results 

Isaac Burns took first place and was named the conference champion in the high jump after a height of 2.06m.  

Tyler Shipley won the conference crown, placing first in pole vault after a vault of 5.10m. The mark is currently leading the NAIA. 

Will Baker finished third and earned All-League honors in the 10000m. Baker set a new school record with a time of 31:08.60. Baker also placed fifth in the 5000m after a time of 15:07.40.  

The 4x800m relay team of Simon Rohwer, Trent Koning, Daron Porter, and Evan Hodkinson placed second and earned All-League honors after a time of 7:30.41, securing a trip to outdoor nationals.  

The 4x100m relay team of Reed Johnson, Keegan Bullock, Jackson Loyd, and Burns finished fourth after a time of 42.54. 

The 4x400m relay team of Seth McCloskey, Rohwer, Samuel Haley, and Hodkinson finished fourth with a time of 3:20.37. 

Mason Hendrickson placed fifth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:42.18. 

Hodkinson placed fourth in the 800m after a time of 1:52.63. 

Griffin Flusch finished fourth place in shot put with a distance of 15.56m. 

Chandler Hartman placed fifth in shot put after a distance of 15.15m. Hartman also placed fourth in discus after a distance of 42.92m. 

Paul Hickey took fifth place in the hammer after a distance of 45.60m. 

 

Top Women's Results 

The 4x800m relay team of Louisa Hallabrin, Jenna Brumbaugh, Makenna Langford, and Allison Bonito took fourth place and hit the NAIA B Standard with a school record time of 9:23.35, securing a trip to outdoor nationals.  

The 4x400m relay team of Kate Ruffle, Langford, Brumbaugh, and Maddy Lengacher placed third after a school record time of 3:57.87, which earned them All-League honors. 

Langford finished third, earning All-Conference, after a time of 1:02.46 in the 400m hurdles. 

The 4x100m relay team of Leah Cooper, Lengacher, Ruffle, and Izzy Henderson finished fifth after a time of 48.90. 

Brumbaugh took fifth place in the 800m with a time of 2:19.87. 

Ruffle placed fifth in long jump with a distance of 5.47m.  

 

What's Next 

MVNU will next travel to compete at the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet on Thursday, May 7 and Friday, May 8, hosted by Baldwin University in Berea, Ohio.
