Men’s Track & Field Places Second at Duane Gomez Invitational

GAMBIER Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's track & field team participated in the Duane Gomez Invitational at Kenyon College on Saturday, April 18. MVNU also had a select few athletes participating in the 56th Annual Hillsdale "GINA" Relays at Hillsdale College on April 17-18.

MVNU's men placed second out of six teams at Kenyon behind Ohio Wesleyan University with a total of 148 points.

 

Men's Top Running Performers

Samuel Haley placed first in the 200m with a time of 22.41. Jackson Lloyd placed second in the event with a time of 22.47.

Will Baker finished second in the 800m with a time of 1:58.42.

David Burkholder won the 5000m with a time of 15:21.30.

Mason Hendrickson placed second in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:01.88.

The men's 4x100m of Shawn Williamson, Lloyd, Keaton Curnutte, and Keegan Bullock placed second with a time of 42.41.

At the Hillsdale meet, Evan Hodkinson placed third in the 800m with a NAIA A Standard time of 1:50.48.

The men's 4x800 meter relay of Trent Koning, Daron Porter, Simon Rohwer, and Hodkinson placed first at Hillsdale College with a time of 7:42.70.

 

Men's Top Field Performers

Isaac Burns set a school record in the high jump with an NAIA B Standard mark of 2.07m.

Tyler Shipley placed first in the pole vault with a NAIA A Standard vault of 5.00m

Griffin Flusch finished first in shotput with a throw of 15.18m. Flusch also placed first in discus with a toss of 45.97m.

 

What's Next

MVNU next competes on April 22-23 in Alliance, Ohio in the Mount Union Classic.
