Track and Field Competes at John Homon Open

ALLIANCE, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University track and field team traveled to Mount Union University on Saturday, April 11 to compete in the John Homon Open at Kehres Stadium. 

 

Men's Top Running Performers 

Mason Hendrickson placed first in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:40.94. 

Will Baker took first in the 5000m with a time of 15:03.70.  

Evan Hodkinson placed first in the 800m, finishing with a time of 1:51.49, hitting the NAIA B Standard. 

Simon Rohwer took second in the 800m after hitting the NAIA B Standard with a time of 1:51.77. 

Daron Porter finished third in the 800m with a time of 1:53.85. 

MVNU's team of Rohwer, Porter, Trent Koning, and Hodkinson finished second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:18.19. 

The team with Seth McCloskey, Marshall Carr, Reed Johnson, and Samuel Haley took third place in the 4x400m relay after a time of 3:21.81. 

 

Men's Top Field Performers 

Griffin Flusche in Discus threw a distance of 47.48m to take second place. 

Isaac Burns tied for third place in high jump after a height of 1.95m.  

 

Women's Top Running Performers 

Makenna Langford placed first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.25. 

Louisa Hallabrin finished second in the 800m with a time of 2:21.62. 

Jenna Brumbaugh took third in the 800m after a time of 2:22.27. 

Leah Cooper set a new school record after her time of 26.12 in the 200m. Cooper also set a new school record for the 100m during the preliminary run, finishing fifth with a time of 12.382. 

MVNU's relay team of Kate Ruffle, Maddy Lengacher, Langford and Brumbaugh took second in the 4x400m relay with a total time of 3:59.68, setting a new school record. 

In the 4x100m relay, the team of Cooper, Lengacher, Ruffle and Izzy Henderson set a new school record after a time of 48.89 to secure fourth place.  

 

Women's Top Field Performers 

Ruffle placed first in long jump after a distance of 5.47m 

Henderson secured second in long jump with a mark of 5.36m. 

 

 

What's Next 

MVNU will next compete in the Duane Gomez Invitational at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio on Saturday, April 18.
