Cougars Take First Loss of Season at Cleary

HOWELL, Mich. The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's soccer team (4-1-2) competed on the road against the Cougars of Cleary University (5-1-0) on Saturday, September 13.  

In the non-conference matchup, the first goal of the game came late in the opening half. MVNU struck first at the 41:09 mark, with Miguel Bello finding the back of the net off an assist from Dante Cooper. The goal was Bello's sixth goal of the season so far. 

In the second half, Cleary responded with an equalizer at the 68:13 mark, then pulled ahead just minutes later with another goal at 72:13. The two quick goals secured a 2-1 comeback win over MVNU. 

Despite the loss, MVNU outshot Cleary 18–10. Both teams had five shots on goal apiece. 

 

What's Next 

The Cougars will continue their road trip to Louisville, Kentucky at the Low City Soccer Fields to take on Brescia University on Thursday, September 18. Kick off will be at 2:00 p.m.
