MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's soccer team (4-0-2) secured a 2-1 win, continuing its undefeated start to the season, in a thrilling contest against Indiana University East (1-4) on Wednesday, September 10 at CH4 stadium.
The Cougars were first to score in the first half at the eighth minute by Max Walker who was assisted by Miguel Bello. IU East responded with a goal by Cruz Jafri at the 23rd minute. The first half ended in a tie of 1-1.
Bello pulled the Cougars ahead of the Red Wolves with a goal in the 76th minute of the second half and was assisted by Baba Sarr. The competitive match would end with the final of 2-1.
MVNU outshot IU East 30-18, having 12 shots on goal. Brayden Pierson had a strong performance in the net for the full 90 minutes where he grabbed ten saves for the Cougars.

MVNU will next travel on Saturday, September 13 to face off against Cleary University (Mich.). Kickoff will start at 6:00 p.m.
