Big Second Half Propels Men’s Soccer to 4-0 Victory over Rochester Christian

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's soccer team (3-0-1) remained unbeaten after a 4-0 victory over Rochester Christian University (0-3-0) at CH4 Stadium on Wednesday, September 3.

After a scoreless first half, MVNU flipped the switch in the second. Maxi Schwalk got MVNU on the board with his first career goal in the 51st minute on an assist from Baba Sarr. Sarr quickly assisted on another MVNU goal, this one by Miguel Bello, to put the Cougars up 2-0. In the 65th minute, Kevin Ngula scored the first goal of his career. Now holding a 3-0 lead, MVNU put the finishing touches on its big second half with a goal from Luka Vojinovic in the 71st minute. The goal was his third of the season.

Brayden Pierson had his third shutout of the season. The sophomore had five save in goal for MVNU. The Cougars outshot Rochester 27-16 and had 16 shots on goal compared to five for the guests.

 

What's Next:

MVNU travels to Montgomery, West Virgina for a road match at West Virginia Tech on Saturday, September 6. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
