Fast Start Pushes MVNU to Dominant Win over Siena Heights

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's soccer team (2-0) hosted Siena Heights University (0-1-1) at CH4 Stadium on Wednesday, August 27. MVNU would defeat the guests by a score of 6-0. 

MVNU started strong, scoring its first two goals of the game within the first five minutes. Senior captain, Micah Post, scored his first career goal and the first goal of the game for MVNU at the two-minute mark and was assisted by Miguel Bello. Luka Vojinovic quickly followed with his first career goal, also assisted by Bello, at the four-minute mark. 

Reid Vance, in the second half, scored his first career goal, unassisted, in the 60th minute, stretching the Cougar lead to 3-0. Chucho Salgado also scored his first career goal for MVNU at the 72nd minute and was assisted by Vojinovic. Vojinovic scored his second goal of the game in the 76-minute mark and was assisted by Baba Sarr. Sarr immediately scored a goal, also in the 76th minute and assisted by Bello, bringing MVNU to a dominant 6-0 lead late in the second half. 

Brayden Pierson shutout Siena Heights, leaving them scoreless. Pierson came away with nine saves after a full 90 minutes of work. MVNU outshot Siena Heights 27-13 with 18 of those shots being on goal.  

 

What's Next: 

MVNU will travel to Olivet Nazarene (IL.) on Saturday, August 30. Kickoff will start at 3:00 p.m.
